Great Emu War Veteran Hat
Weird history is its own corner of the internet, fed by r/HistoryMemes, Drunk History and The Dollop. The Great Emu War ran in late 1932 in the Campion district of Western Australia, where Major G.P.W. Meredith took two Lewis guns and 10,000 rounds against the birds; by November 8 about 2,500 rounds had been fired and, by some reports, as few as 50 emus were culled. Emu War Veteran hats already sell on TeePublic. The oldest written customer complaint on record, a clay tablet from about 1750 BCE found at Ur and held by the British Museum, grumbles about the wrong grade of copper from Ea-nasir.
These weird history hats turn the strangest incidents into personal creeds. The Great Molasses Flood hit Boston's North End on January 15, 1919: roughly 13,000 short tons of molasses in a wave about 25 feet high that moved at up to 35 mph, killing 21 people. The dancing plague took over Strasbourg from July to September 1518. In the Pig War of 1859 the only casualty was a pig. And Napoleon was recorded at 5 pieds 2 pouces, about 5 ft 7 in, which was average for his time.
Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Wear one to the next trivia night, or give it to the friend who keeps a list of history's strangest footnotes.
