Why Is There Always A Piano In Abandoned Buildings? Hat
Urban exploration, urbex for short, is the hobby of photographing places most people only drive past: abandoned buildings, dead malls, forgotten military bunkers. The community's golden rule is the creed "take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints," and an unwritten code keeps explorers from posting exact locations publicly, to protect sites from vandalism. That secrecy is the hobby's favorite in-group joke: nobody gets the address. As one explorer put it, there is a story behind every location, and normally high-traffic places end up so empty and quiet.
Photographers also share a trope: pianos turn up in abandoned buildings often enough that Romain Thiery travelled France, Belgium, Italy, Germany and Poland hunting forgotten ones.
These urbex hats cover the whole kit. The badges name the hobby (URBEX and URBAN EXPLORER), and the sentence designs carry the location secrecy, the piano question, the built-and-abandoned dates, the dead mall tour guide and the comfort of liminal spaces.
Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Choose one for yourself, or for the friend whose camera roll is all peeling paint and who will absolutely not tell you where it was taken.
