Ukulele Player Hats

The ukulele is a grown-ups' hobby now. Maine Public reported that ukulele sales more than doubled between 2009 and 2014 to about $70 million a year, and that a Maine club called FLUKES grew from 8 to 35 members in four years. One member said he was making up for lost time. These hats are for that crowd: retirees in ukulele clubs, teachers, campfire strummers and anyone who has ever loved Hawaii. The jokes are shared. A uke FAQ lists the other questions every player hears, including whether they only play those in Hawaii, and I WENT TO HAWAII ONCE AND NOW I PLAY THE UKULELE answers it. Then there is the repertoire. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's Somewhere Over the Rainbow, recorded in 1988, is the best-selling Hawaiian music piece ever, so MY UKULELE ONLY PLAYS OVER THE RAINBOW sounds about right. RIPTIDE IS THREE CHORDS AND I KNOW TWO nods to Vance Joy's song, written on a ukulele with Am, G and C. NOBODY HAS EVER BEEN SAD WHILE PLAYING A UKULELE adapts a song lyric about the same thing.
