Gem Mint 10 Hat
The sports-card hobby and the adult Pokemon-collecting world have both boomed since 2020, and the grading slab, not the binder, is the status symbol now: a card sealed behind plastic by a third-party service, numbered and scored, treated like a stock certificate instead of a toy. Pokemon restock nights at Target and Walmart have been national news on and off since 2021, with adults lining up and sometimes fighting over a shelf of booster packs the morning a new set drops. Every collector also shares the same origin wound: the mom who, at some point in the 1990s, cleared out a closet and threw away a shoebox of cards that would be worth real money today, an injury nobody in the hobby has ever fully processed.
These hats carry both halves of that world. CARD COLLECTOR and the Pokemon-specific badge name the identity plainly. GEM MINT 10 borrows the grading scale's own top score as a boast. JUNK WAX ERA names the late-80s/early-90s overproduction period every veteran collector references with a knowing wince, and CARDBOARD CRACK is the hobby's own nickname for its grip on you. The rest are the jokes: cards reframed as a legitimate asset class, the Target parking-lot fight for Pokemon packs, and the one about mom and the shoebox, finally said out loud.
Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. The two strongest lines, GEM MINT 10 and the one about your mom and the baseball cards, each get a second colorway.
