Teddy Roosevelt Hats

Theodore Roosevelt is the outdoors dad's patron saint. He set aside roughly 230 million acres of public land, including eighteen national monuments, and gave a speech that has outlived every campaign slogan of his era. On October 14, 1912, he was shot in Milwaukee. A folded fifty-page speech and a steel-reinforced eyeglass case slowed the bullet, and he went on to speak for about 84 minutes. The line he opened with, that it takes more than that to kill a bull moose, is still the best joke in American politics. The market already knows him. Big Stick Energy tees, Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick shirts and Bull Moose 1912 tees sell steadily, and trucker hats with a Roosevelt quote exist, but embroidered dad hats are thin on the ground. That is the gap this collection fills. The set has plain TEDDY ROOSEVELT and BULL MOOSE badges, THE MAN IN THE ARENA from his 1910 Sorbonne speech, and a thank-you for the national parks. The originals compare a soft modern life to his absurd vigor: the wearer who has never spoken softly, the paper-cut sufferer measured against a man who kept talking after being shot, and a bull moose that beats the donkey and the elephant from the 1912 photo series. Every hat is custom embroidered on a dad hat.
