Submarine Veteran Hats

Submariners are a small, close community with a vocabulary of their own. The United States Submarine Veterans organization (USSVI) was chartered in Connecticut on May 22, 1964, and its only membership requirement is being qualified in submarines. Its Holland Club is for members who qualified 50 or more years ago. Dolphins are the line between a nub and family: enlisted dolphins are silver and officer dolphins are gold, so none of these hats puts a color in the text. The jokes come from the boat itself, where it is always a boat and never a ship, and where hot-racking means sanctioned bunk sharing, three guys to every two beds. These submarine veteran hats start with two plain badges, SUBMARINER and SUBMARINE VETERAN, then use lines the community already prints: SILENT SERVICE on caps, DIESEL BOATS FOREVER on patches, RUN SILENT RUN DEEP with a loud retirement, and THE BEST MARINE IS A SUBMARINE, a line that already sells on anchor caps. The folk saying that there are only submarines and targets gets its own hat, and so does the hot rack. RUN SILENT RUN DEEP RETIRE LOUD and THE BEST MARINE IS A SUBMARINE each get a second colorway. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Veterans collect caps and hand them to their nephews, which makes one an easy gift.
