Skateboarding Hats

Skateboarding Is Not a Crime began as a 1987 Powell Peralta ad campaign, with stickers in the 1988 video Public Domain, and NHS Inc. formalized the slogan in 1997. Skate or Die was a 1988 EA game for computers and the NES, and Thrasher's ethos was skate and destroy; the phrase was on editor Jake Phelps' business cards. Decades on, the people who wore those slogans are in their 40s and 50s and still dropping in. Old Man's Skateboarding Club in Invermere, B.C. is about eight members in their 40s to 60s who meet Sundays at 9am. Dad Skate Squad in Northern Kentucky rolls about 30 dads every Wednesday night, and its Shorty Night drew 70+. Pros are staying in too: Josh Kalis at 44, Daewon Song at 45, Chris Pulman at 46, Ron Allen at 57. Subreddit r/OldSkaters is full of 30-somethings and 40-somethings still working on kickflips and recovering from injuries. These skateboarding hats are written for that crowd. Two badges, SKATEBOARDING and SKATER DAD, carry the search terms, and the rest are slogans with an aging body: the not-a-crime line with knees that filed charges, the classic skate-and-destroy, gray hair on fresh grip tape, and the never-landed kickflip. The knees line and the kickflip line each get a second colorway. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat.
