I Buy Model Kits Faster Than I Build Them Hat
Scale modelers have a vocabulary of their own, and most of it is a complaint. On the Fine Scale Modeler forum, a stalled kit goes on the "shelf of doom," a named category that group builds use to pull a started model off the shelf and finish it. Stashes are a running boast: forum posters report collections of 300, 418 and even 1,192 kits, and one writes of "buying them much faster than I can build them."
Then there is the Carpet Monster. When a part leaves the tweezers with a ping, the community blames the carpet, and the kit maker Eduard gives the figure a place in its own newsletter. Folk fixes include poster tack on a toothpick and a catch apron. Gunpla builders have their own pile; one toy site calls the Gunpla backlog a rite of passage.
These scale model kit builder hats put those jokes on a dad hat: the carpet monster, kits bought faster than built, the 1/35 social life, the instructions read after step 40, and plain badges for the scale modeler and the model kit builder. Model builder hats already sell, and no hat turned up for the carpet monster.
This page is historical and vehicle kit building, distinct from Warhammer & Mini Painting Hats, Model Train Hats and Adult LEGO Hats. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Give one to the builder with a closet of unbuilt kits.
