Somewhere in late 2025, the internet agreed on a shared warning system. It is not a siren and it is not a notification. It is a saxophone, and it is getting louder. The sound comes from the score of a 1991 film, and by now it means one very specific thing: nothing has happened yet, but you already know how this ends. The genius of it is that the situations are always ordinary. Your manager asks if you have a minute. Your landlord texts "hey" with no follow-up. Someone opens with "so I've been thinking." The horns come in and the whole room changes key. Dictionary.com gave the phrase a slang entry, which is the closest thing the internet has to a citizenship ceremony, and its own example is a boss scheduling a quick call at five o'clock on a Friday.
