Who Shall Live Who Shall Die Who Shall Bring The Lox Hat
The High Holidays pair a new year with a day of atonement, and the jokes follow the rituals. Shofar, so good is a pun cited in print since at least 1935 and the motto of the International Federation of Shofar Blowers, which is why it now sells on tees, bags and cards. This collection puts that line on a hat, next to the greetings and the fast.
Tashlich is the custom of casting bread into water to symbolize shedding the year's sins, and the geese and ducks end up eating it; one tashlich site posted a sign reading DO NOT FEED THE DUCKS AND GEESE. Bagels and lox are the dominant Ashkenazi break-fast, the meal NPR reported as the great equalizer for Jews, and the whole day of fasting points at it. Many synagogues also charge for High Holiday seats, with reported figures of $100 to $150 a seat and up to $300 for non-members.
ROSH HASHANAH and YOM KIPPUR are the two badges and SHANA TOVA is the greeting. The sentence designs cover Book of Life anxiety, the ducks, the bagel after the fast and seats paid for and used. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat.
