Prepper Hats

Two is one and one is none: the creed behind the whole hobby is usually credited to US Navy SEALs, though its origin is unclear and it has been repeated for at least fifty years. It means expect at least one thing to go wrong, so have more than one way to get something done. Preppers apply it to everything, with three ways to make fire, three ways to treat water and three kinds of light, plus a go bag, a deep pantry and a basement that one prepper blog says is basically a grocery store. The survivalist sense of the word prepper took hold after the Y2K scare, and the reality show Doomsday Preppers ran from 2011 to 2014. SHTF has turned up on prepper message boards since at least 1994. These prepper hats cover the whole habit: a plain PREPPER badge, the motto itself, the go bag with its own go bag, the rice, the ranks of the pantry, and a nod to everyone who has been at it since Y2K.
