Petty Hats

Petty gets claimed here as a proud identity, not an insult. The novelty-apparel shelf already treats it that way: "petty" stands on its own as a badge word the same way "savage" does, and the stock "I'm not X, I'm Y" contrast format is a familiar joke shape, used here as I'M NOT PETTY / I'M ACCURATE. This collection builds the character around that label: someone who forgives in the dictionary sense but keeps a file anyway, who treats a grudge the way other people treat a hobby, and who considers "organized" a compliment, not a contradiction, when it's paired with "petty." The badges are short and declarative (PETTY, PROUDLY PETTY, CERTIFIED GRUDGE HOLDER). The longer lines carry the actual argument: I DON'T HOLD GRUDGES / I HOLD RECEIPTS reframes the grudge as evidence rather than emotion, the strongest line here and the one the collection title borrows. I FORGIVE / BUT I REMEMBER EVERYTHING and LET IT GO? / I HAVE NEVER LET ANYTHING GO both work the same gap between what the wearer says and what they actually do, which is the whole joke of being proudly petty instead of quietly petty.
