Oklahoma Hats

Oklahoma runs on a particular kind of confidence: when the tornado siren sounds, plenty of people step into the yard and look for the funnel. The sirens go off when a Tornado Warning is issued, and in Oklahoma City they repeat every ten minutes for as long as the warning stands. The person many trust more is the TV meteorologist. Gary England, KWTV chief meteorologist from 1972, was the first to use commercial Doppler radar for direct public warnings, in 1981, and when he died in June 2025 at 85 he was remembered as the most trusted voice during severe weather for two generations of Oklahomans. These Oklahoma hats carry the state's bits and flags. The badges are OKLAHOMA and OKIE. The lines include OKIE FROM MUSKOGEE, SOONER BORN SOONER BRED, the Oklahoma! lyric about the wind sweeping down the plain, and BOOMER SOONER, a chant that already sells on caps. There is food, too. BRAUM'S is the local favorite, and the onion burger began at the Hamburger Inn in El Reno during the Great Railroad Strike of 1922, sold as the five-cent Depression Burger. El Reno still holds Fried Onion Burger Day on the first Saturday in May. RED DIRT closes out the set. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Wear one to the game, on the drive home, or the next time the wind never stops.
