October Baseball & Rally Cap Hats

A rally cap is a baseball hat worn inside out to will a comeback into existence. The tradition goes back to an 1887 Giants game, broke nationally during the 1986 World Series, and gets rediscovered every October by a new set of fans who have run out of other ideas. It is the only piece of clothing with instructions. The rest of this collection comes from the booth. Baseball has a language nobody else has: a professional at-bat, manufacturing a run, a guy who has been in the league a while, no quit in this ballclub. Said with total gravity across three hours of television, most of it means nothing at all, and that is exactly what makes it funny written down and stitched onto a hat. The short ones are set as collegiate arches in heavy display type. The long ones are set in lowercase serif, because a sentence that rambles should look like it knows it is rambling. Some of them — STILL MATHEMATICALLY ALIVE, IN A REBUILD, CONTRACT YEAR — stopped being about baseball a long time ago.
