The Trebuchet Was The Peak Of Human Achievement Hat
The Middle Ages have a devoted fan base that spends a good part of its time correcting everyone else. As one widely shared 2019 post put it, "I assure you medieval people bathed", and the claim holds: soap is a medieval invention, public bathhouses were normal, and many of the dirty-medieval myths date from the Early Modern era. The Dark Ages means poorly documented, not bad, and most historians avoid the term. The Black Death of 1348-1351 killed about 30 percent of the population, and the poll tax and wage caps that followed helped set off the Peasants' Revolt of 1381, led by Wat Tyler and John Ball. Then there is the trebuchet. The r/trebuchetmemes community began on 7 December 2015, and its core claim is that a trebuchet can fling a 90 kg projectile more than 300 metres, far beyond a catapult.
These medieval history hats speak for that crowd. Two badges, MEDIEVALIST and MEDIEVAL HISTORY NERD, cover the plain search terms, and two plague doctor lines cover a steady print category. The rest are the corrections themselves, plus the leeches joke already printed on plague doctor tees. BUT DID YOU TRY LEECHES? and the trebuchet line each get a second colorway. This is the myth-busting page: Renaissance Faire holds the costume scene and History Buff holds general history.
