My Lawn Chair Gets To The Parade Before The Parade Hat
A lawn chair is a possession with a service record. The Northwest Hills Lawn Chair Brigade in Austin has marched in its July 4 parade since 1992, and it has grown to about 70 members aged 18 to 84, with ribbons on each chair showing its years of service. Precision lawn chair drill teams march in parades in Williston, Vermont, Dunwoody, Georgia and Barrington, Illinois, and the Williston team goes by the Sue Pasco Memorial Williston Precision Lawn Chair March & Drill Team. Along the route, residents of Ridgewood, New Jersey lay their chairs out days and even weeks before July 4 to hold a spot.
These lawn chair hats are for the person who owns the chair, trusts the chair and brings the chair everywhere: the parade, the kids' games, the fireworks and the concert lawn. Badges name the chair itself, and the sentence designs carry the pride, from a weight limit stamped optimistic and a collector's spec sheet for original webbing to the drill team alternate waiting on the bench, the chair that arrives before the parade does and the one that rides in the trunk, always. LAWN CHAIR DRILL TEAM ALTERNATE and the parade line each get a second colorway.
Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Wear one to the next sideline, or give one to the retiree whose chair has the best seat in town.
