Kinda Chic Hats

It started on Instagram in April and broke wide in July and August: write "kinda chic to..." over a photo, then finish it with something nobody would call chic. Going to bed early. Repeating an outfit. Being fifty. Drew Barrymore posted "kinda chic to be in your 50s" on August 3rd and pulled 170,000 likes in four days; Reese Witherspoon and Ashley Graham followed. The phrase does all the work, so five hats here are nothing but the phrase - black, stone, pink, white, and one arched across khaki. Two are stitched in the pale gold the trend uses for its own text. The rest finish the sentence. GO TO BED AT 9. LEAVE THE PARTY EARLY. NOT DRINK. BE EARLY. EAT THE BREAD. TEXT BACK IMMEDIATELY. REPEAT OUTFITS. MIND MY BUSINESS. And BE IN YOUR 50S, which is the one that took the whole thing mainstream.
