Infantry & Grunt Hats

Infantrymen name themselves after a paperwork code. The Army job is MOS 11B, and its holders call themselves 11 Bang Bangs, a phrase Task & Purpose lists among the Army terms that make no sense to outsiders. The Infantry School at Fort Benning, the Home of the Infantry, carries the motto Follow Me, with a Follow Me statue dating to 1959-63, and the title Queen of Battle is credited to Sir William Napier (1785-1860). Marine riflemen hold the 0311 code and share one word with the Army's foot soldiers: grunt. These infantry and grunt hats keep to the humor those soldiers use on themselves, which is mostly self-deprecation. We Are The Mighty's reporting on infantry humor quotes the put-down "you're just a dumb grunt" and the dating-profile line "MREs and long walks," which is where two of the designs come from. INFANTRY and INFANTRY VETERAN are the plain badges. QUEEN OF BATTLE, FOLLOW ME and 11 BANG BANG carry the Army mottos and nicknames, and GRUNT is the word that crosses over to the Marines. The sentence designs go after the walking, the ruck and the spear. NOT SMART ENOUGH FOR A REAL MOS and I ENJOY MRES AND LONG WALKS each get a second colorway. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Choose one for yourself after the last ruck march, or for the infantryman who still calls it a hike.
