Ferret Owner Hats

Ferret people have their own language, and most of it is sound effects. Dooking is the clucking that signals a happy ferret, and "dook dook" is both the happy noise itself and a fond shorthand for ferrets in general. The weasel war dance is the frantic, sideways, hiccuping bounce that goes with it, often after a ferret has captured a toy or a stolen object, with an arched back and a puffed tail. A ferret torpedoing along the floor with intent is a carpet shark, and the long, liquid way one pours itself through a gap is a noodle. The other half of ferret ownership is theft. Ferrets take keys, socks, remotes, wallets and shoes and stash them under furniture, behind appliances and under couch cushions. Keys are a favorite target, and some owners run a daily stash check to find out what has gone missing. This collection speaks in that voice. FERRET MOM and FERRET DAD are the plain badges people search for, DOOK DOOK and MOTHERFERRET are the in-group shorthand, and the longer lines cover the black market in socks, the stolen heart, the cat on espresso, and the war dance itself. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat, for the owner who has long since stopped asking where the socks went.
