Fake It Till You Make It Hats

Nobody starts out qualified. Every person you have ever been intimidated by walked into a room once with no idea what they were doing and decided to keep a straight face about it. "Fake it till you make it" has been kicking around since at least the early 1970s, and it survived this long because it is the rare piece of advice that is both slightly illegal-sounding and completely true: act confident long enough and the confidence stops being an act. This collection is one expression, eight ways. We took the aphorism and let typography and color do the talking — a stacked three-line block in classic white-on-black, its exact inverse in black-on-white, a wide two-bar split in gold on cranberry, and a single thin banner in orange across navy for people who want it read from across the bar. Then we got loud: kelly green on pink, flamingo on green camo, and the long-form "until" for the pedants. Same energy, entirely different volume. Two lateral picks round it out. "Act as if" is the phrase the whole aphorism grew out of — an AA slogan, a therapist's prescription, and a Wall Street line all at once, and short enough to hit hard at hat size. "Imposter syndrome" is the other side of the same coin: naming the thing out loud on your forehead is its own kind of cure. Wear whichever one you are currently living.
