Dog Agility Hats

Dog agility began, by most accounts, as a demonstration at the Crufts dog show in the late 1970s, and it has since earned a place at Westminster. A dog and a handler run a course of jumps, tunnels, a teeter and weave poles, and a run with no faults is a clean run. In 2021 at Westminster, Ripple's handler Daniel Haddy fell exiting the tunnel and still celebrated the run. Agility writing treats the human as the usual suspect: one trainer's blog says the dog responded faithfully to what the handler actually communicated, and a sport glossary defines the handler's hopping dance at the weave poles as a superstition. These dog agility hats are written from the handler's side of the ring. Three badges, DOG AGILITY, AGILITY DOG MOM and AGILITY DOG DAD, name the sport and its two roles. The sentence designs take the blame: IT WAS HANDLER ERROR, the standard explanation; a plea to watch the dog, not the footwork; the motto of tunnel, teeter, weave, treat; a dog that qualified while the human fell over a jump; and pride in the dog, sorry about the human. HANDLER ERROR and FELL OVER A JUMP each earn a second colorway. Dog Dad & Dog Mom hats and the breed pages are owner identity, and K9 Handler is police work; none of them carries the trial ring. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat.
