I Hide The Good Cookies In A Sewing Tin Hat
Every December a certain kind of baker takes over the kitchen. King Arthur Baking's 2025 Holiday Cookie Survey of more than 6,000 bakers found that 59% make four or more kinds of cookies a year and 7% make more than ten. Most bake for family, a third for themselves too, and half as gifts, and 44% say the baking itself is the part they enjoy most. The same survey has strong opinions: 40% called fruitcake abominable, and just over half said chocolate chip cookies are not holiday cookies at all.
The culture comes with its own jokes. The blue cookie tin that holds a sewing kit instead of cookies is such a recognised grandma joke that it has a picture book, The Ten Tins. Cookie exchange rules say homemade only. Royal icing earns its own warning: "Royal icing. Not. For. Sissies."
These Christmas cookie baking hats are for the person behind all of it: the one who hides the good cookies in a sewing tin, buys butter by the case, won the exchange in 1998, saves the broken ones for Santa and has been humbled by royal icing. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Unlike the crew and team shirts already selling on apparel, these are for the baker herself, and hats are barely there in the search results.
