AvGeek & Plane Spotter Hats

Plane spotting is the hobby of standing at the runway fence, or at your own window, and naming every aircraft that goes over. The subreddit r/Planespotting has about 100,000 members, and apps like Flightradar24 let anyone point a phone at the sky and see which plane is up there and where it is headed. Spotters talk about rare visitors, flight paths and livery, and one enthusiast on a community forum calls the moment reverse thrust kicks in epic. The hobby has also drawn official attention abroad: 14 spotters were arrested in Greece in 2001, and four Britons in Kenya in 2016. These AvGeek and plane spotter hats are for the spectators, not the crew. The badges use the hobby's own words, avgeek and plane spotter. The sentence designs go after the 747, nicknamed Queen of the Skies since it entered service with Pan Am in 1969, with the last of 1,574 delivered on January 31, 2023. There is a Boeing slogan that has been in print since at least 1995, flipped by the internet, and the app named outright. This is the watcher at the fence, which is a different wearer from Funny Pilot, Air Traffic Controller, Aircraft Mechanic and Flight Attendant. Every design is custom embroidered on an unstructured dad hat. Wear one to the runway fence, or give one to the family member who points at every plane.
